How to buy Shanghai Disneyland tickets as a foreigner
Buy from the resort's own channels and book with your own passport. Every ticket is real-name, so the passport you enter at purchase is the passport you must show at the turnstile. The resort's website works in English, and it is the easiest place to start. We'd buy there rather than on a third-party site.
The resort lists these as its official direct channels:
- The Shanghai Disney Resort website and the Shanghai Disney Resort App
- The resort's official WeChat account
- The Disney Reservation Center: 400-180-0000 or +86-21-3158-0000. Guests under 18 need a parent or guardian's permission to call.
- The official Douyin, Jingdong (JD.com) and Fliggy stores
The resort's official travel partners also sell tickets, and the resort keeps the full list on its website. The resort says anything bought through other channels is unofficial and unauthorised, and highly likely to be fake or fraudulent, at the buyer's own financial risk.
The website is in Simplified Chinese and English, with limited content in Japanese. The FAQ says you can download the App from the website, the App Store or Google Play.
Can I use my passport to buy a ticket and get in?
Yes. The real-name policy took effect on 23 December 2024. Each guest books with their own valid government ID, and one ID can buy only one ticket for the same visit date. If you travel as a group, each person buying a ticket needs their own accepted ID number.
For guests who are not from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan, the policy accepts a valid foreign passport or a PRC Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card. Once you confirm and submit the ID details, they cannot be changed. Check every digit before you submit.
Bring the original passport
On the visit day, each guest must bring and show the original physical ID used when buying. It is the only valid credential for park entry and is checked at the turnstile. The policy says copies in any form, or a digital version, will not be accepted. A photo of your passport on your phone will not do.
Each guest can also hold only one valid park admission per day. You cannot hold two tickets for the same day on one ID.
Which tickets exist, and what a park ticket includes
A park ticket lets you enter and leave Shanghai Disneyland as many times as you like on your visit day, during operating hours, and covers all 8 themed lands. A 1-Day ticket allows re-entry on the same day after your first entry.
The resort sells these types:
- 1-Day and 2-Day tickets, each with access to all eight themed lands.
- Early Bird, a ticket discount if you book at least 10 days in advance.
- Packages. The 1-Day Ticket with Early Park Entry Pass lets you enter up to one hour early. The Dream Day Package gives priority access to popular attractions.
This page gives no ticket prices. Check the price for your date on the resort website or App before you buy.
If you stay at one of the two Disney hotels, the FAQ says each registered guest gets one early park entry for each night of the stay, starting the day after check-in. It lets you in up to one hour before the announced opening time, and you get it at the front desk when you check in.
Child, senior and disability tickets: which one, and what ID
Only age on the day of the visit counts:
- Under 3: free admission.
- 3 to 11, both inclusive: Child Ticket.
- 60 or older: Senior Ticket, according to the FAQ.
For a child under 3, the guardian must bring and show the child's original valid government ID. The policy's own examples are mainland documents (a PRC Resident ID Card or a Household Register). For a foreign family, the policy asks for the child's original valid ID, and its list for foreign guests names a valid foreign passport. The policy doesn't say whether a free under-3 admission has to be booked in advance. Ask the Reservation Center if you are not sure.
Under the real-name policy every guest uses their own ID, so a child aged 3 to 11 is also booked on their own ID. Guests under 16 must be accompanied by a guest aged 16 or older to enter, under the park rules the policy quotes. The Household Register and electronic ID code steps in the policy are for mainland children only, so they don't apply to you.
Guests with disabilities can buy a ticket at a discount from the Standard ticket price, through the Reservation Center, the App, the website or the WeChat account. At the Main Entrance you show the original ID or passport information and the original disability certificate, which is checked through the China Disabled Person's Federation WeChat account; without a valid certificate or the digital check, you may have to pay the difference up to the Standard price.
Shanghai Disneyland ticket refund and date change
The resort announced a tiered refund system with rules starting on 12 January 2026. Before that, tickets could not be transferred, cancelled or refunded. Only date changes were allowed.
Changing the date
You can reschedule up to two times to other available dates of the same ticket type. Each change must be made at least 48 hours before 00:00 on the original entry date.
Which tickets can be refunded
The tiered refund covers standard marquee price tickets only. The notice defines that as non-discounted, non-promotional products: 1-Day Tickets, 2-Day Tickets and Disney Dream Day Packages, bought through the official direct channels listed above. You also must not have used any official coupon, and must not have changed the date after buying.
The FAQ calls Early Bird a discount, and the refund notice limits the tiered refund to non-discounted, non-promotional tickets. The notice does not mention Early Bird by name, so ask the Reservation Center before you rely on a refund for a discounted ticket.
Refund deadlines and the RMB 80 fee
| When you apply | Self-service on the original order page | Through the Reservation Center |
|---|---|---|
| Full refund | Until 23:59 seven days before the visit date | Until 21:00 seven days before |
| RMB 80 per ticket (for each day applicable) | From 00:00 six days before to 23:59 the day before | From 08:00 six days before to 21:00 the day before |
| No refund | On the visit date, after 00:00 | After 21:00 the day before |
For a 2-Day ticket, the first visit date decides the tier. The notice's own example is a visit on 20 January 2026. A full refund was possible until 23:59 on 13 January, the RMB 80 fee applied from 00:00 on 14 January to 23:59 on 19 January, and refunds were closed from 00:00 on 20 January.
If you bought add-ons linked to a refunded ticket for that date, such as the Early Park Entry Pass or Disney Premier Access, the notice says you may call the Reservation Center to refund them. If you bought a standard-price ticket through another official channel, such as a travel partner, ask the channel you bought from. The notice leaves refund and exchange rules for those tickets to that channel.
How to get to Shanghai Disneyland by metro, bus, taxi and from the airports
From downtown Shanghai, the resort's transportation page gives these options. For the rest of the city, see our Shanghai travel guide.
- Metro: Line 11 to Disney Resort Station, then leave by Gate 1 or 4.
- Bus: routes 50, 51, 52 or 70, then walk.
- Taxi and ride-hailing: you walk to the park from the drop-off zones. A notice on the page says taxis may pick up and drop off at the West Public Transportation Hub, and at designated areas within hotels and premises in the resort zone. They may not do so in the Disney Car and Coach Park.
Parking lots are at or near full capacity at weekends and holidays, and the resort advises the metro, a taxi or other public transport.
From Pudong and Hongqiao airports
The page gives estimates only, marked with a tilde.
| Airport | Distance | Taxi | Metro |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pudong International | about 30 km | about 30-50 minutes | about 80-90 minutes |
| Hongqiao International | about 45 km | about 60-80 minutes | about 80-90 minutes |
The page also lists the Airport Link Line: about 50-60 minutes from Hongqiao Airport and about 30-40 minutes from Pudong Airport. It gives no first or last train times and no intervals for that line.
Can I visit Disneytown without a park ticket?
Yes. Disneytown is the resort's shopping, dining and entertainment district. It has no admission fee, and you can go in without a Shanghai Disneyland ticket. The FAQ says parking may cost extra.
Before you go
This page gives no park opening hours, so look them up for your date in the App or on the website before you plan the day. For a comparable theme park day, see Universal Beijing tickets and Express for foreign visitors. We can help you plan the day and tell you how to buy, but you buy the tickets yourself from the resort's official channels.
