How do you buy Universal Beijing tickets as a foreigner?
Buy through the resort's own channels: the official App, the WeChat mini program or the Alipay mini program. You need a passport at the gate, and the ticket is tied to the ID you link to it. Theme park tickets start at ¥350, Universal Express at ¥190. Refunds are free until 00:00 two days before your date, so pick your date with that in mind.
Two things the resort's pages don't say
The resort's Tickets & Offers page and FAQ don't say whether a foreign phone number or email can register in the App or mini programs, or whether an overseas bank card works for payment. Do not assume either. If you get stuck, the Contact Center is listed below.
How to buy Universal Studios Beijing (北京环球影城) tickets with a passport
The resort's tickets page lists three ways to buy theme park tickets: the Universal Beijing Resort official App, the WeChat mini program and the Alipay mini program. Universal Express and VIP Experience show the App and WeChat only.
The resort's FAQ also names two other official channels: the Contact Center, and the Universal Beijing Resort Fliggy Flagship Store. A Beijing government English page from June 30, 2023 lists the same three routes for foreign visitors: the App, the Fliggy flagship store, or the Contact Center. It also says passport details are required for booking.
- Contact Center: 4000-688-688 from inside the Chinese mainland, +86-010-89688688 from other countries and regions.
- Guest Services hotline: 4008-778899 (listed on the Park Rules page for questions and emergencies at the resort).
Buy only from these channels. The resort's FAQ says it also has 21 official travel trade partners, listed on its website, and warns about fake tickets sold on other platforms. If a seller is not on that list, treat the ticket as unsafe.
Tickets are valid only for the person whose valid ID is linked to the ticket. They cannot be transferred or resold. Each ID can buy up to 5 One-Day Dated Tickets through the App or mini programs.
The Park Rules page adds one more step. Guests with general admission tickets or annual pass entitlements must reserve the visit date in advance through the official App, the Alipay mini program or the WeChat mini program. The rules say a valid ticket and the reservation record together form your admission credential, and both are needed.
Universal Beijing ticket prices in 2026
The tickets page shows these starting prices:
| Product | Price shown | What the page says |
|---|---|---|
| Theme park: One-Day Dated, 1.5-Day Dated, 2-Day Flex | From ¥350 | Dated admission. One-Day Dated is valid on your selected date only, at Universal Studios Beijing only. |
| Universal Express (four products) | From ¥190 | Price may vary depending on the date selected. |
| VIP Experience | From ¥2800 | Described as a personally escorted tour with priority access to attractions. |
These are starting prices, not what you will pay on every day. The park tickets sit next to a Price Calendar link on the tickets page. The tickets page doesn't explain why prices differ between dates, so open its Price Calendar for your own date.
If the price drops after you buy, the resort does not refund the difference. The FAQ says any ticket price adjustment must be done by refund and then buying again. Check the refund deadline below before you do that.
Child, senior and disability discounts
The FAQ says about 25% off for three groups:
- Child: ages 3 to 11 at the time of purchase. The Chinese version of the FAQ says age 3 to 11 inclusive on the day of purchase.
- Senior: ages 65 and over at the time of purchase.
- Guests with disabilities: a valid certificate of disability issued by a government or official organization. The ticket is valid only for the person whose ID is linked to it.
The FAQ says no discounts are available for other certificates, such as teacher or military ID. It doesn't say whether a disability certificate issued outside China is accepted. The page also doesn't give a height rule for tickets.
Do you need your passport at Universal Beijing? Is a QR code enough?
No, a QR code alone is not what the rules describe. The Park Rules ask guests to have a valid ticket and to show a physical government ID for age and identification checks. For foreign citizens, that is a passport or a Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card. The resort's FAQ says it directly: overseas guests are required to present a passport for park admission.
The resort also uses photo validation at check-in. Re-entry on the same valid day works by photo validation too. If you do not want to use it, follow the signs or the team members and go to Guest Services to opt out. A guardian must consent for children to use it.
If you lose your ID before entering, the FAQ says to go to Guest Services or the Ticket Sales Booth. Staff can help verify identity and arrange another way in, such as a temporary admission card.
Guests under 16 must be accompanied by a guest aged 16 or older.
What is Universal Express and how much is it?
Universal Express is a paid add-on for shorter queues. The tickets page lists four products: Universal Express, Universal Express Single Attraction, Universal Express - Set 3 and Universal Express - Set 5. The page doesn't spell out what Single Attraction, Set 3 and Set 5 cover, so look at each product in the App before you pay.
- Price: from ¥190, and it may vary with the date selected.
- What it includes: express access to participating rides and attractions, and priority seating at selected shows.
- Where and when: valid on the selected date only, at Universal Studios Beijing only.
- Time slot: none. The FAQ says you can use it any time during the day without reserving a specific time.
- ID: you must give an entry date and register your ID when buying. It cannot be transferred.
You can buy Express before your visit date. The tickets page shows the App and the WeChat mini program for Express. The FAQ also names the Alipay mini program (written there as the Alibaba mini program). If the Alipay option is missing for Express, use the App.
The FAQ sends cancellation and refund questions for Express to the product terms, and the FAQ does not give those terms. Do not assume Express follows the ticket refund rules below. The FAQ also says the App and in-park tip boards show attraction queue times.
Universal Beijing ticket refund and date change rules
The English FAQ gives these refund and date change rules for dated tickets:
| When you ask | Result |
|---|---|
| Before 00:00, two days before the visit date | Free refund |
| From 00:00 two days before to 23:59 the day before | Refund with a service fee of RMB 80 per ticket |
| After that | Non-refundable |
The Park Rules also say park admission tickets are non-refundable on the day of the visit, after use, or after expiry.
For a date change, the FAQ allows one change to a new dated ticket of equal value, subject to availability, before 00:00 two days before the visit date. You cannot swap to a different ticket category. In that case, refund the original ticket and buy the new one. The FAQ says more details are in the admission product terms and conditions.
Can you buy Universal Beijing tickets at the gate?
Plan to buy online. The resort's FAQ answer to ‘Can I purchase a ticket on site?’ is written around the pandemic control period. It says on-site ticketing was not available then, except for the Universal Studios Beijing One-Day Dated Ticket for guests with disabilities. It ends: ‘Please do purchase your tickets online in advance.’ That page doesn't state a current walk-up policy, so it does not tell you whether gate sales exist today.
Another FAQ answer sends guests with disabilities to the ticket sales booth near the front gate of the park.
Universal Studios Beijing opening hours
The resort's ticket, FAQ and rules pages give no opening or closing times. The resort has a Park Schedule page and the App, so check your date there. The Park Rules say the resort may change park or attraction hours for weather, air quality, park capacity, health and safety, special events and other reasons. It may also close areas or suspend attractions.
Guests of The Universal Studios Grand Hotel and NUO Resort Hotel get Early Park Admission to selected lands or attractions up to one hour before the park opens to the public. Valid theme park admission is still required.
How to get to Universal Beijing Resort by metro and from the airports
The resort is in Tongzhou District, next to the East 6th Ring Road. The Getting Here page says Beijing Capital Airport, Daxing Airport, and Beijing, Beijing West and Beijing South railway stations are all connected to the resort by rail transit.
- Metro: Universal Resort Station, on Line 7 and the Batong Line. Use Exit B, C or D. It is about a 7-minute walk to the security check area of Universal CityWalk Beijing. For paying the fare with a foreign card, see our Beijing subway payment guide.
- Bus: Buses 589 and T116.
- Customized bus from downtown: the resort's Getting Here page lists a service connecting the resort with Guomao, Sanlitun, Sanyuan Bridge, Anzhen Bridge, Dongzhimen, Xizhimen, Cao Qiao, Beijing railway station and other hubs, running 7:00 to 20:40 and stopping at resort bus station 1-2.
- Neighborhood shuttle: the same page lists a route covering metro stations, residential communities and hotels within 6 km, every 8 minutes, 7:10-9:30 and 17:30-21:30, with online reservation or temporary ride. The page gives no date for these timetables.
- Taxi or ride-hailing: there is a dedicated guest drop-off area for taxis, ride-hailing and private vehicles.
Airport shuttle to Universal Beijing
A Beijing government English page dated July 27, 2026 says new airport shuttle timetables and routes were due to take effect on July 31, 2026. The direct shuttle between Capital Airport and Daxing Airport gets a new stop at Universal Beijing Resort. It uses the 6th Ring Road instead of the 3rd Ring Road and has only that one intermediate stop.
The page gives hotlines open 24 hours: Capital Airport Shuttle Bus +86-10-64378900, and Daxing Airport Shuttle Bus +86-10-81698565. It gives no fare, frequency or stop location, so ask the hotline before you rely on it. For the rest of the trip from the airport, see our guides to Capital Airport to the city and Daxing Airport to Beijing.
What can you bring? Food, backpacks, suitcases and lockers
Everyone and every bag goes through security with metal detectors, X-ray machines and handheld scanners.
Food and drink
Outside food and drink for your own use are allowed. Not allowed, except for medical, infant or special dietary needs:
- Amounts beyond what one person would eat or drink.
- Alcoholic drinks.
- Food that needs heating or processing, such as instant noodles or instant hotpot.
- Strong-smelling food such as durian.
Bags and suitcases
Bags or containers larger than 56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm cannot enter. The prohibited list names no backpack as such, only the size limit. Items longer or wider than 50 cm may need extra screening.
All wheeled carriers must go in a locker or luggage storage. That includes wheeled suitcases, carts and wagons. The exceptions are strollers used by children aged 7 or under on the visiting day (the child must accompany the stroller), manual wheelchairs and electric wheelchairs for guests with lower-limb mobility difficulties.
Other items on the prohibited list include:
- Weapons, knives, scissors and flammable items such as hairspray.
- Balloons and toy guns.
- Glass products, except for medical, infant or special dietary needs.
- Selfie sticks; camera tripods and photographic lighting that may impede the resort's safety or operation.
- Drones and other remote-controlled items.
- Bicycles, skates and scooters.
- Stools and folding chairs.
- Animals, except trained guide dogs.
Smoking and e-cigarettes are allowed only in designated smoking areas.
Where to leave luggage
- Lockers inside the park: on the left of the Front Gate. The FAQ gives these prices: 60 RMB per day for a standard locker (280 x 350 x 450 mm) and 80 RMB per day for a large one (424 x 350 x 450 mm). Lockers are rented during the park's operating hours.
- Lockers in CityWalk: on the left of Metro Plaza before security screening, and on the 2nd floor of the Hub before the security screening area.
- Luggage storage: the Guest Services page lists three places: on the right of The Universal Studios Grand Hotel before the park entrance, Metro Plaza in CityWalk, and the first floor of the Transportation Hub in CityWalk. The FAQ lists four places, including the first and second floors of the Hub and next to the Guest Services lobby in CityWalk. The Guest Services page says day guests pay for luggage storage, with different prices for regular luggage and small items, but gives no amounts.
Luggage storage is free for guests of the resort's hotels, and the FAQ says resort staff move that luggage to your hotel. Lockers also use photo validation. If you do not want that, the Park Rules say to tap the key icon on the locker screen or ask a team member.
Cash, ATMs and currency exchange at the resort
The Guest Services page lists ATMs inside the park in Minion Land and Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness. Currency exchange is outside the park at the ICBC branch in Universal CityWalk Beijing, and in the lobbies of The Universal Studios Grand Hotel and NUO Resort Hotel.
The resort's Guest Services page and FAQ don't say which payment methods its shops and restaurants accept. For general advice on cash and cards in China, see Is cash accepted in China. For the rest of your trip, our Beijing travel guide covers the city.
