Xi'an North Station and Xi'an Station by metro: lines, fares and last trains

Xi'an North Station or Xi'an Station: which one do you need?

You need the station named on your train ticket. Xi'an North Station (西安北站) and Xi'an Station (西安站) are two separate metro stops, both on Line 4. Read the arrival station on your 12306 ticket to see which one you need. For trains from Beijing, see our Beijing to Xi'an train guide.

In short: from Xi'an North, Line 2 goes straight to the Bell Tower (钟楼). Xi'an Station is on Line 4 only, so for the Bell Tower you change lines; use the Xi'an Metro map or app for the route. Between the two stations, Line 4 runs direct.

Xi'an North Station to the Bell Tower by metro

Take Line 2. Xi'an North and the Bell Tower are both on Line 2, so you don't change. Look for the direction towards Changningong (常宁宫). The fare is ¥4 in the Xi'an Metro fare search on 5 October 2026. That page doesn't show which fare version it uses.

You pass Beidajie (北大街) one stop before the Bell Tower. It is also ¥4 from Xi'an North. The Bell Tower and Beidajie stops are both on Line 2 in the city centre.

The Line 2 timetable applies from 12 January 2026. Times are departures at intermediate stations and arrivals at the terminus.

00:19 means 19 minutes past midnight. On the same train, 06:00 to 06:23 is 23 minutes and 23:55 to 00:19 is 24 minutes. That is subtraction of the printed times, not a ride time the page states.

Xi'an Station to the city centre by metro

Xi'an Station is on Line 4 only. The Bell Tower is on Lines 2 and 6, so it is not a one-line ride. The fare search shows ¥2 from Xi'an Station to the Bell Tower (5 October 2026). It does not say where to change. Look up the route on the Xi'an Metro map or app.

The Line 4 timetable applies from 14 March 2026. Trains leave Xi'an Station at these times:

Xi'an North Station to Xi'an Station by metro

Yes, you can go between them by metro. Both are on Line 4, so you don't change. The fare is ¥4.

• Xi'an North to Xi'an Station: trains towards Hangtian Xincheng leave Xi'an North at 06:00 (first) and 23:00 (last). They pass Xi'an Station at 06:28 and 23:28, which is 28 minutes by the timetable.
• Xi'an Station to Xi'an North: the 06:34 first train reaches Xi'an North at 07:02. The 23:34 last train reaches it at 00:02. That is also 28 minutes.

Xi'an North Station to Xi'an Xianyang airport by metro (Line 14)

Line 14 runs between Heshao (贺韶) and the airport, and it stops at Xi'an North. The airport has two Line 14 stations. Jichang (T5) (机场（T5）) comes first. Jichang Xi (T1, T2, T3) (机场西(T1、T2、T3)) is the end of the line. Take the train towards Jichang Xi.

The Line 14 timetable applies from 15 April 2026.

By those times the first train takes 30 minutes to Jichang (T5) and 33 to Jichang Xi. The last train takes 31 and 34. This is subtraction of the printed times.

Coming back, trains towards Heshao (the direction of Xi'an North) leave Jichang Xi first at 06:00 and last at 22:20. The last train from Jichang (T5) is 22:24. The last train from Jichang Xi departs Xi'an North at 22:56, 36 minutes after leaving Jichang Xi by the timetable. The Line 14 timetable does not give airport fares.

Xi'an North Station or Xi'an Station to the Terracotta Army

The museum's directions page gives a metro route plus a bus from each station. The page shows no date. It also gives no travel time for these two routes, and no bus fare or timetable.

• From Xi'an North (西安北站): Line 2 to Beidajie, change to Line 1 to Fangzhicheng (纺织城), change inside the station to Line 9 to Huaqingchi (华清池).
• From Xi'an Station (西安火车站): Line 4 to Wulukou (五路口), change to Line 1 to Fangzhicheng, then Line 9 to Huaqingchi. This is a change between metro lines at Wulukou.

From Huaqingchi, both routes continue by bus: Lintong You 613 (临潼游613路) to Qinyong Village (秦俑村), or Lintong 602 (临潼602路) to Qin Bingmayong (秦兵马俑). The airport routes on the same page add two details: leave Huaqingchi station by exit C and walk 197 m to the Huaqingchi bus stop, then get off at the Bingmayong bus stop and walk 170 m.

The page also lists a scenic-area direct bus (兵马俑景区直通车). It leaves from the Qinfeng depot (秦风发车场) stop, a 310 m walk from exit D of Tonghuamen (通化门) station on Line 3. The page lists it in an airport route, and it gives no way to reach Tonghuamen from either railway station. In the airport routes the museum calls the north station 北客站（北广场）, and says you can change between Line 14 and Line 4 inside it.

Arriving late at night: is there a metro from the station?

It depends on your station, line and direction. These are the last trains that leave each station:

Xi'an North has the latest departure, 23:55 on Line 2 towards the Bell Tower. The Line 4 timetable shows no departure from Xi'an Station after 23:34.
