How many trains run from Guilin to Guangzhou?
For Wednesday 14 October 2026, 12306 listed 53 trains from Guilin to Guangzhou: 34 G trains and 19 D trains. The first left at 06:00 and the last at 19:55. The fastest took 1h58m. Almost every price shown that day carried a discount label, so full fares are higher.
The first departure was G3747 from Guilin North at 06:00, arriving at Guangzhou South at 08:01. The last was D1867 from Guilin West at 19:55, arriving at Guangzhou South at 22:36.
Some trains are listed once for each Guilin station they leave from. The 53-train total counts each train once. 12306 also showed 14 more rows with no times, marked as temporarily closed for ticketing because of a timetable adjustment. Those are not counted as trains.
One day's page, not a timetable
Every train, time and price on this page is what 12306 showed for 14 October 2026. The timetable and fares change with the date, so another day can look different.
Which Guilin station do I leave from?
Guilin has three railway stations that trains on this route use: Guilin West (桂林西), Guilin North (桂林北) and Guilin station (桂林站, shown as "Guilin" on the 12306 English page). The Li River scenic area's transport page lists Guilin Station, Guilin North and Guilin West among the city's railway stops and says you can change to a bus, taxi or ride-hailing at each. That page has no date.
A 2016 China Railway news item also says the city's main urban area has these three stations. Use 12306 to see which station your train leaves from.
| Leaving from | Trains | G / D | First | Last | Shortest to Guangzhou South | Median to Guangzhou South |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Guilin West (桂林西) | 34 | 22 / 12 | 08:46 | 19:55 | 1h58m | 2h29m (32 trains) |
| Guilin North (桂林北) | 19 | 12 / 7 | 06:00 | 19:35 | 2h01m | 2h37m (18 trains) |
| Guilin station (桂林站) | 6 | 4 / 2 | 08:55 | 18:09 | 2h43m | 2h55m (6 trains) |
The three station counts add up to more than 53 because the 6 trains from Guilin station are also listed from Guilin North. One example: D1874 leaves Guilin station at 08:55, and the same train is listed as D1871 leaving Guilin North at 09:09. Both arrive at Guangzhou South at 11:53. The two listings give different journey times (2h58m and 2h44m) because the departure times differ.
Guilin North is in the north of the urban area, where Diecai District (叠彩区) meets Lingchuan County (灵川县), according to China Railway's station page (no date).
The Li River page and the two China Railway pages do not say where Guilin West is or how to reach it.
Which Guangzhou station do I arrive at?
Mostly Guangzhou South (广州南). On 14 October 2026, 50 of the 53 trains arrived there. The other three arrived at the stop 12306's English page calls "Guangzhou":
- D2985, Guilin North 07:50 to 10:42.
- G2935, Guilin West 12:55 to 15:32. The listing also shows later stops at Guangzhou Xintang (广州新塘) at 16:18 and Zengcheng (增城) at 16:31.
- G3725, Guilin West 17:45 to 20:15.
A Guangzhou government page dated 16 January 2026 calls this station Guangzhou Station (广州站). It says that from 26 January 2026 the station no longer handles originating or terminating ordinary-speed trains. Its main lines are the Beijing-Guangzhou, Guiyang-Guangzhou, Nanning-Guangzhou and Guangzhou-Shantou high-speed lines. The page does not give the station's district or metro lines.
Getting out of Guangzhou South
A Guangzhou government page dated 21 January 2024 says Guangzhou South is the metro station where Guangzhou Metro Lines 2, 7 and 22 and Foshan Metro Line 2 meet. A Guangzhou transport bureau page of 24 February 2021 says that, as of that page, the taxi rank and bus stops are on the ground-floor west square and the Guangzhou South coach station is on the east square.
Neither page says which district Guangzhou South is in, or gives a travel time or fare into the city centre.

- Guilin West to Guangzhou South: shortest 1h58m, median 2h29m (32 trains).
- Guilin North to Guangzhou South: shortest 2h01m, median 2h37m (18 trains).
- Guilin station to Guangzhou South: shortest 2h43m, median 2h55m (6 trains).

G trains vs D trains from Guilin to Guangzhou
On the 14 October 2026 listing, 34 of the 53 trains were G trains and 19 were D trains. The clearest comparison is the Guilin West to Guangzhou South pair:
- G trains: 1h58m to 2h53m (20 trains).
- D trains: 2h26m to 3h42m (12 trains).
So on that day the fastest trains were G trains, but the ranges overlap: some D trains were faster than the slowest G trains. The 12306 listing does not explain what the letters mean. Almost every fare carried its own discount label, so the two types are not compared by price here.
