How much are Wuzhen tickets in 2026?

Adults pay ¥110 for the East Gate (东栅), ¥150 for the West Gate (西栅) and ¥190 for the East+West combo (东西栅联票). The official ticket page and the Q&A page give the same three prices. A ticket is valid on the day of use, for one entry, and is scanned or punched at the gate. Once sold, it is not refunded or exchanged.

If you sleep inside the West Gate, the answer changes. Since 16 March 2025 the West Gate ticket is free for hotel guests (details below).

The notice list on the scenic area's site shows only tender results from 2 to 4 October 2026 on its first page. That page showed no price change notice.

Should I buy East, West or the combo ticket?

The combo saves money. East plus West separately would be ¥260 for an adult, so the ¥190 combo is ¥70 cheaper.

  • Day trip, both gates: buy the combo. The Q&A page says the combo is usually valid on the day only, so do not plan on using it across two days.
  • Day trip, one gate only: buy that gate's ticket.
  • Staying in the West Gate: your West ticket is free (see below). You only need an East ticket if you want to see the East Gate.

Can you do both gates in one day? The combo is a one-day ticket, so yes, it is built for that. The official ticket policy and Q&A pages do not say how long each gate takes. The ticket policy and visitor tips pages do not give East Gate opening hours. If you do both, we'd start at the East Gate: the free shuttle bus stops at 17:00 (16:30 from October to April) and the East Gate boats stop at 17:00, while the West Gate stays open until 22:00.

The East Gate uses a "one ticket, checked at each sub-site" system. Show your ticket at each small attraction inside.

Can foreigners buy Wuzhen tickets? Do you need a passport?

The official ticket policy and Q&A pages do not say. They have nothing on foreigners buying tickets, on passports, or on real-name booking for ordinary tickets. We therefore can't give you a passport rule for tickets.

Here is what the pages do say about ID:

  • Hotel check-in: the visitor tips page says guests checking in at the West Gate Visitor Service Centre front desk or a hotel front desk must show a valid document. That is an ID card for Chinese guests and a passport (护照) for foreign guests (外宾).
  • Discount tickets: some need an ID card (身份证). See below.
  • Disability: a foreigner's government-issued disability certificate (外籍人士残疾证) is on the free-entry list.

The ticket page has "book now" buttons that lead to the official booking site, ewuzhen.com. It does not describe booking steps or mention a mini-program. The West Gate and East Gate visitor service centre pages list ticket sales and ticket checking among their services. We only help plan the trip and explain how to buy. We do not sell scenic-area or boat tickets.

Staying overnight in the West Gate: do you still need a ticket?

Not for the West Gate, under the newer rule. An official news item says that from 16 March 2025, guests in any hotel or guesthouse inside the West Gate scenic area get West Gate tickets free for the number of guests actually staying. The Water Lane youth hostel (水巷青年旅馆) is excluded.

The number of free tickets is shown on the product detail page of the booking site. The news item does not give a number per room, so look at your room's page before you book. To use it, show a valid ID document at the front desk of the West Gate Visitor Service Centre, check in, and enter the West Gate.

Old text still online

The Q&A page still says guests must buy a ticket to enter, and that a room card plus ID gets you a temporary pass so you need not buy again. It also says you can buy a two-day combo at check-in. The visitor tips page has a hotel note that says the same thing about buying a ticket. Neither page shows a date. The news item with the 16 March 2025 start date is the newer policy, so these lines look like the earlier rule. Treat the free West ticket as current, and confirm your room's free-ticket count on the booking page.

The same news item lists other perks for hotel guests:

  • East Gate and Wu Village tickets at 20% off. The page's example is an East ticket at ¥90.
  • Free luggage delivery to your room after check-in (not for the youth hostel).
  • A free pass for unlimited exits and entries during your stay.
  • Free tour car rides, 24 hours, on a voucher during your stay.

On check-out day, the Q&A page says you can stay in the West Gate until you leave it. The hotel front desk or guesthouse host can hold your luggage or send it to the West Gate Visitor Service Centre luggage room. The West Gate centre page lists luggage forwarding, and the East Gate centre page lists luggage storage (寄存).

Wuzhen discount and free tickets: children, students, seniors

Discount tickets (优惠票) cost East ¥55, West ¥75 and combo ¥130. Show the document when you buy. The page lists:

  • Full-time students up to undergraduate level, with a student card.
  • Children over 1.2 m up to and including 1.5 m.
  • Minors over 6 up to and including 18, with an ID card (身份证).
  • Ages 60 up to under 70, with an ID card.

The ticket page does not say whether a foreign student card is accepted, or whether a foreign passport can stand in for the 身份证. If one of those applies to you, that is the question to ask before you pay.

Free entry: children 1.2 m or under, or aged 6 or under, with a valid document. Visitors aged 70 or over with a valid ID document also enter free. The ticket page adds that they swap it at Visitor Service Centre No. 2. The page also lists free entry for several mainland categories, such as serving military and press card holders. If you are a foreigner, the only line aimed at you is the disability certificate mentioned above.

What time does the West Gate open and close? And the East Gate?

The official news item on the hotel-stay policy gives the West Gate's opening hours: daily 9:00-22:00. The news item says hotel guests get the West Gate at night and in the early morning.

The official ticket policy and visitor tips pages do not give East Gate opening hours or night-lighting times. Neither page lists an evening show. The visiting rules say that at night you can only visit the venues and sights that are open. The operator may also change opening hours, pause entry or limit numbers without notice. The reasons listed are capacity, bad weather, special events, safety and maintenance.

The ticket covers the open venues and ticketed halls of the West Gate historic district, except the Muxin Art Museum (木心美术馆). It does not cover special paid programmes.

Wuzhen boat tickets: single boat or shared boat?

Boats are sold separately from the entry ticket. The two options differ in how they fill:

GateSingle boat (单包船)Shared boat (拼包船)Child fare
West Gate¥480 per boat, one way, max 8 people. Leaves as soon as you board.¥60 per person, one wayAged 14 or under, or 1.5 m or under: ¥30. Age 1 or under: free.
East Gate¥240 per boat, one way, max 8 people¥30 per person, one wayAged 14 or under, or 1.5 m or under: ¥15. Age 1 or under: free.

A shared boat leaves only when 8 people have filled it. You may have to queue, and your companions are not guaranteed to be on the same boat. Follow the pier staff. A group of four adults at the West Gate pays ¥480 on a single boat or ¥240 on a shared boat (4 x ¥60), but may be split up.

  • West Gate route: Visitor Service Centre (Andu Fang) pier to Ruyi Bridge (Wenchang Pavilion) pier, and the reverse. Hours: Visitor Service Centre pier 08:00-21:30; Andu Fang pier and Ruyi Bridge pier 07:30-21:30. Other piers are not regularly open.
  • East Gate route: car-park pier (停车场码头) to Xinhua Bridge pier (新华桥码头), and the reverse. Hours: 08:00-17:00. The ticket page also lists a Caishen Bay (财神湾码头) to Xinhua Bridge route, which the transport page does not, so the two pages differ slightly on piers.

The boat runs the whole water route without stopping. You may get off early if you ask, but the price stays the same.

How to get between the East and West Gates

Use the East-West free shuttle bus (东西栅免费班车). It runs 9:00-17:00 from May to September and 9:00-16:30 from October to April, about every 20 minutes. On holidays it depends on the situation on site. The transport page says all times are for reference and subject to the actual departures that day. The text of that page does not name the stops.

Inside the West Gate there is a separate tour car (游览车). It runs 24 hours on two lines, south and north, at ¥10 per person per ride. It is free for hotel guests on a room card or hotel registration slip. South line cars carry a maximum of 10 people, and north line cars 13, children included. The page gives no child fare for the tour car and does not say children ride free. From 22:00 to 8:00 the night call line is 0573-88731051.

Guide service is sold per group, one way. The West Gate is ¥200 in Chinese or ¥300 in English. The East Gate is ¥120 in Chinese or ¥200 in English. The ticket page also mentions an e-audio guide through the official WeChat account. It has a ‘book now’ button under the guide prices but no booking steps, and the visitor tips page lists a guide service hotline, 0573-88731055.
