Wulong Karst tickets in 2026: the short answer
Two sets of numbers circulate, and they are different things. The Chongqing price bureau sets ticket-only prices: from 1 October 2018 the peak-season prices are ¥70 for Three Natural Bridges (天生三桥), ¥80 for Furong Cave (芙蓉洞) and ¥50 for Xiannüshan (仙女山, Fairy Mountain). The operator, Chongqing Wulong Karst Tourism Industry Group, sells combined prices that bundle in the transfer bus, lift or cableway, and these are higher.
For getting there, take a high-speed train to Wulong South (武隆南). From Chongqing East (重庆东) it mostly takes 38 to 46 minutes, per a 12306 search made on 8 October 2026 for travel on 15 October 2026. Neither the operator's price list nor the government price notices give opening hours or say whether a foreign passport works for booking. Details are below.
The area is inscribed on the World Natural Heritage list (27 June 2007) and rated AAAAA (6 July 2011), per the Chongqing government page. It lists Xiannüshan and Three Natural Bridges at Xiannüshan Village, Xiannü Town, and Furong Cave at Caijia Village, Jiangkou Town. Longshuixia Gorge (龙水峡地缝) is a separate 4A area.
How much are Wulong Karst tickets? The ticket-only prices
These come from two Chongqing Price Bureau notices. They must be read together, because neither gives the full picture.
| Area | Peak season (March to October) | Low season (November to February) |
|---|---|---|
| Three Natural Bridges | ¥70 from 1 Oct 2018 (was ¥80) | ¥40 in the 2013 notice |
| Furong Cave | ¥80 from 1 Oct 2018 (was ¥120) | ¥65 in the 2013 notice |
| Xiannüshan | ¥50 from 1 Oct 2018 (was ¥60) | No separate figure in the notices |
The 2018 notice (Yu Jia [2018] No. 159) lowered the three peak prices. Its attachment table has no low-season column.
The 2013 notice (Yu Jia [2013] No. 21, in force from 20 January 2013) set the seasons and the low-season prices of ¥40 and ¥65. None of the official pages cited here gives a later low-season price, and none says whether those two figures changed after 2013, so treat them as the last official low-season numbers rather than a confirmed current price. The 2013 notice gave Xiannüshan a single price of ¥60; the operator's list shows ¥50 all year.
Is the bus or lift included? The operator's combined prices
The operator's price list carries no date. Its low season is November to February. These are the operator's combined prices, not an official breakdown of the notices above, so do not compare the two sets line by line.
| Item | Low season | Peak | What the list says is inside |
|---|---|---|---|
| Three Natural Bridges | ¥125 | ¥155 | Includes ¥40 transfer bus and ¥45 Tianlong spiral ladder |
| Longshuixia Gorge | ¥85 | ¥105 | Includes transfer bus ¥35 and elevator ¥15 |
| Furong Cave plus cableway | ¥135 | ¥150 | Cableway ¥70 |
| Xiannüshan | ¥50 | ¥50 | One price all year |
The same list prices some single items: Three Natural Bridges exit battery car ¥15, glass viewing platform ¥40, Furong River boat ¥100, Furong River cable car ¥35 round trip or ¥20 one way, and the Lanba area ¥50. Other paid extras exist too, such as shows, ziplines, skiing and a helicopter service. We have left those prices out.
A 2023 Chongqing price list says government pricing covers the ticket plus shuttle cars, battery cars, cable cars and boats. It names Wulong Karst Tourism Area (Three Natural Bridges, Furong Cave, Xiannüshan; 5A) and Longshuixia Gorge (4A) as priced by the municipal development and reform commission. Neither the 2013 nor the 2018 Chongqing Price Bureau notice gives a ticket-only price for Longshuixia; the operator's price list gives combined prices of ¥85 low season and ¥105 peak.
Wulong discounts for seniors, children and students, and when low season is
Low season is November to February; peak is March to October (2013 notice; the operator's list agrees on low season). The 2013 notice, which covers Xiannüshan, Three Natural Bridges and Furong Cave, says:
- People aged 60 and over pay half, with the Chongqing respect-the-elderly preferential card or their own ID card (身份证).
- Active-duty military, martyrs' families, disabled revolutionary soldiers, retired military cadres and disabled people with valid certificates enter free.
- Travel-agency group tickets may be discounted by at most 20 percent.
- Youth discounts follow another Chongqing document, Yu Jia [2012] No. 51. The 2013 notice does not repeat its rules or give child age or height limits.
The notice does not say whether a foreign passport counts as an ID card for the over-60 rule. The 2018 notice only tells scenic areas to keep applying reductions for young people, students, seniors and others, without repeating the rules. Neither notice names Longshuixia Gorge.
Can a foreigner buy Wulong Karst tickets with a passport?
The operator's price list, its guide pages and the government notices do not say whether passports are accepted at the gate, whether you must book in advance, or whether real-name booking applies. A January 2025 government item about a Spring Festival family pass names the WeChat mini-program "武隆景区官方平台" (Wulong Scenic Area Official Platform) as an online channel, with hotel coupons for visitors who spend on it. The pass prices have expired. The January 2025 government item does not say whether foreign visitors can use the mini-program. Ask the hotline, 4000235666, before you plan around either route.
Chongqing to Wulong by high-speed train
Use Wulong South, the station on the Chongqing-Xiamen high-speed line. Chongqing East and the Chongqing East to Qianjiang section opened on 27 June 2025. Its seven stations are Chongqing East, Banan, Nanchuan North, Shuijiang West, Wulong South, Pengshui West and Qianjiang. That page also says the railway uses flexible discounts and differentiated market-based fares, which fits the different prices for the same trip below. On the 12306 English site the stations show as Chongqingdong and Wulongnan. To pick between Chongqing East, North and West, see Chongqing railway stations.
Below is one sample: a 12306 English-site search made on 8 October 2026 for travel on 15 October 2026 (a Thursday). Every fare in the table below carried a discount label, such as ‘20% off’. A labelled price is already discounted, so the full fare is higher. Full fares change with the train and the date, and timetable changes will differ too.
| Route | Trains with seats | Time | Second class |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chongqing East to Wulong South | 10; first G2425 07:17 arriving 08:02, last G8505 21:04 arriving 21:50 | Mostly 38 to 46 min (one 57 min) | ¥62, ¥71 or ¥80, every fare with a discount label (10% to 30% off); first class ¥99 to ¥128, all labelled (9% to 30% off) |
| Wulong South to Chongqing East | 6; first G8608 07:23, last G3870 21:25 arriving 22:10 | 37 to 50 min | ¥67 (24% off) or ¥71 (20% off) |
| Chongqing West to Wulong South | 6 | 1h41m to 1h55m | ¥89 to ¥107, every fare with a discount label (7% to 23% off) |
| Chongqing North to Wulong South | 3 | 1h54m to 2h26m | ¥111 to ¥118, every fare with a discount label (13% to 14% off) |
| Jiangbei Airport station to Wulong South | G3763 | 1h33m | ¥104 (14% off) |
The same train number can appear at several stations: every West, North and airport train in the table was also listed from Chongqing East, so the search showed 10 trains with seats to Wulong South in all. G2431, for example, was listed from Chongqing North (11:03), West (11:35) and East (12:38), all arriving at Wulong South at 13:16. If you need to cancel or change, see 12306 refund and change fees. Some listings in that search, three outbound and four on the return, showed ticketing as temporarily closed because of a timetable adjustment, so not every listed train was on sale when the search was made. For the city itself, see our Chongqing travel guide.
Old Wulong station or the coach: which is cheaper?
Old Wulong station (武隆) is a different stop from Wulong South. For 15 October 2026, 12306 listed K and slow trains there from Chongqing North and East taking 2h1m to 2h52m. A hard seat was ¥21.5 or ¥24.5, a hard sleeper ¥70.5 and a soft sleeper ¥108.5 (12306 shows upper-berth prices for sleepers), none with a discount label. The return C834 is listed leaving Wulong at 09:28 for Chongqing North in 1h54m: second class ¥52, first class ¥82, also without a label. The operator's own transport advice lists these slower trains to "Wulong station", but gives no detail on reaching the sights from there.
The coach is another option. The Wulong District bus station timetable (22 October 2024) lists departures from Wulong to Chongqing (Sigongli, 四公里) at ¥36, first bus 05:30, then rolling departures from 06:30 to 18:00; it does not give times for the Sigongli end. The operator's homepage carries a news title about a floating fare "from as low as ¥36" on the same coach. By price alone, a hard-seat slow train is the cheapest, the coach is next, and the high-speed train costs the most. The slow trains take over two hours. Neither the district timetable nor the operator's news title gives the coach's journey time.
Wulong South station to Three Natural Bridges, Furong Cave and Fairy Mountain
The operator's September 2026 transport recommendations and the June 2025 government report give no timetable, fare or stops for the last leg from Wulong South. Here is what is stated:
- The operator's route advice (image in its 28 September 2026 guide) goes "high-speed rail to Wulong South, then to each scenic area", with no times, fares or details.
- A June 2025 government report on a district press conference says that at the high-speed "South station" the district opened a Xiannüshan "Star" tourist line (仙女山"星"旅游专线) and a Jiangkou Furong Cave scenic bus line (江口芙蓉洞景区公交专线). It does not name the station, though Wulong South fits. It gives no timetable, fare or stops. It also mentions taxis and car rental in general terms, with no fares.
- Neither the operator's September 2026 transport recommendations nor the June 2025 government report identifies a bus from Wulong South to Three Natural Bridges.
- The "10 minutes from the station to Xiannüshan" headline is about a helicopter service, not the road shuttle.
Buses from the Wulong county bus station, not from Wulong South, are better documented. The operator's bus routes page (undated) lists the Xiannü Town visitor reception center at ¥9 and 0.5 hour, Xiannüshan at ¥17 and 1 hour, and Furong Cave at ¥9 and 0.5 hour. The district timetable above shows Xiannü Town at ¥10, rolling departures 06:00 to 17:50. The two pages differ, so fares may change. Neither page says how Wulong South connects to the county bus station.
The operator also recommends a "tourist through-coach" (旅游直通车) from the Sigongli transport hub or Bayi Road food street (八一路好吃街) to the Xiannüshan visitor reception centre, with no times or fares given. Inside the Xiannüshan resort, 4 routes with 8 buses were added from 14 July 2025 (07:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 18:00, every 10 to 15 minutes at peak). That was a summer measure for long-stay visitors in 2025, not a year-round link to the stations.
Is Wulong a day trip from Chongqing? Hours and time to plan
The operator's price list and September 2026 National Day guide do not give opening hours for any area. Ask the hotline, 4000235666, before you go. The operator's own visit-time estimates, from its 28 September 2026 National Day guide, are 3 hours each for Xiannüshan, Three Natural Bridges and Longshuixia Gorge, 2 hours each for Furong Cave and Furong River, 2 hours for Baima Mountain and 70 minutes for the Impression Wulong show. Treat them as estimates, not a schedule.
In the 12306 search made on 8 October 2026 for travel on 15 October 2026, the first train from Chongqing East is listed arriving at Wulong South at 08:02 and the last train back leaving at 21:25, so the rail timetable leaves a long day. The operator's September 2026 transport recommendations and the June 2025 government report give no journey time for the last leg or say whether you need a night.
Furong Cave closed for a day in September 2026
On 26 September 2026 the operator posted that a damaged high-voltage cable had stopped the cableway and cable car, and closed Furong Cave until further notice. Visitors with booked tickets were advised to switch to Xiannüshan, Three Natural Bridges, Longshuixia Gorge, Baima Mountain or Lanba. Later that day a second notice said the cable was repaired and the cave reopened normally from 27 September. Check before you go: official line 400-023-5666, Furong Cave and Furong River 023-77742278.
The operator's other numbers: complaints 4000235788, consultation 4000235666, rescue 023-77709229. We can help you plan the day and tell you how to book trains, a hotel, a local guide or a private car to Wulong, but we do not book sight tickets, cableways, shows or helicopter rides.
